All car rentals in Skegness are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines key terms, conditions, insurance coverage, and your responsibilities for the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To hire a vehicle in Skegness, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may vary based on the vehicle type, with potential additional charges for drivers under 25. A valid driving licence that corresponds with the vehicle category is required, along with valid identification and proof of your current address. You will also need to present valid payment information and a security deposit, as well as meet any other criteria outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be completed via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Skegness office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment, along with a security deposit, is usually required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, securely processed through trusted payment gateways.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, please conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and both parties will sign it. It is expected that you return the vehicle in the same state as when it was collected, accounting only for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. Ensure that the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as received, as refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may result in additional charges, so please inform us as soon as possible if you foresee any delays. You will be held responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental period, along with an associated administration fee.
5. Insurance and Responsibility
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. You can find full coverage details and excess amounts in your Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to limit your financial exposure. It’s wise to review these options thoroughly. You remain responsible for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless you opt for extra coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or a violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, irrespective of insurance.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or similar high-risk endeavors. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or allowing unauthorized drivers is not permitted. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, exceeding weight or passenger limits, and operating outside designated areas without approval are also violations of this agreement.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Limitation of Responsibility
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire in Skegness is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount you paid in the previous year. This does not affect our responsibility for negligence leading to death or personal injury, or for instances of fraud.
